GSA Schedule Information
Founded in 1949, the General Services Administration's (GSA) mission is to provide superior workplaces, expert technology solutions, acquisition services, purchasing and e-travel solutions, and management policies, at best value, which allows federal government agencies to focus on their core missions. GSA serves as a centralized procurement and property management agency for the federal government. GSA manages more than one-fourth of the federal government's total procurement dollars and influences the management of $500 billion in federal assets, including 8,300 government-owned or leased buildings and 170,000 vehicles. GSA also serves as steward of more than 420 historic properties, and as manager of USA.gov, GSA is the official portal to federal government information and services.
The GSA Schedules program, also referred to as Multiple Award Schedules (MAS) and Federal Supply Schedules (FSS), is a Federal Government Program whereby GSA establishes long-term government-wide contracts with commercial firms and vendors to provide access to over 10 million commercial services and products. GSA Schedule contracts are the favored procurement vehicle for most federal buyers and are ideal sales and closing vehicles for you, the vendor. The use of the GSA Schedule contract as a quick, efficient method of purchasing is steadily increasing, with annual sales from the GSA Schedule and VA Schedule now exceeding $36 billion.
There are 54 categories of commercial services and products (including VA services and products) under which you may apply for a GSA contract. These categories cover everything from information technology services and products, industrial products, vehicles, furniture and office products, to most categories of professional services.
Once you are awarded a GSA Schedule contract, you are placed on a list of approved suppliers for that particular Schedule. Buyers for federal government agencies can order your services and products using GSA Advantage, the online marketplace. Your GSA Schedule contract may be renewed for three five-year periods, resulting in a 20-year contract, if all renewals are executed.
